The park comprises of about 1000 square kilometers of jungle located 175 km south-west of Kathmandu in the Terai or jungle area of Nepal. The Park was created in 1973 as an animal sanctuary for the declining tiger and rhino populations. The Park now contains an estimated 400 Indian one-horned rhinoceros, 80 Royal Bengal tigers, plus another 50 species of mammals and 400 different types of bird. With its vibrant and diverse vegetation the park a must for nature enthusiasts. 
Timings and costsThe trip to Chitwan is the perfect way to round off a trip to the mountains or to get away from the busy city. All-inclusive trips can be arranged to suit your needs from budget to luxury accommodation. Jungle activities such as elephant safaris, nature treks, bird-watching or traditional dug-out canoe rides can be arranged, as well as giving you time to just lounge around the pool or relax in a hammock. Prices includes private transportation to and from the National Park, park fees, local taxes, accommodation in jungle camp with all meals and a range of jungle activities for 2 nights, 3 days.
